EXHIBITIONS

The
Association attended Harrogate, Ascot and Leamington this year, and plans to
spread its wings to a number of other venues during 2008 and future years.
Here we see part of the Association’s stand at the centennial Model
Engineer exhibition at Ascot early in September.
Ascot was a new venue for everyone concerned, and inevitably there were
some teething troubles; nevertheless Model Engineer put on a superb display for
its 100th anniversary including many rarely seen collections of the
model engineer’s art down the years, including the immortal Curly Lawrence,
the immaculate Cherry Hill (nee Hinds), who displayed her entire work of the
past 30 years, never before seen together, Ron Jarvis, Anthony Mount, Edgar T
Westbury, Les Chenery, Don Young, Martin Evans, Herbert Stumm, Roy Darlington,
George Thomas, the SMEE collection, and many
more. All in the stunning setting of the new Ascot racecourse main stand.
